Happy New Year!!  I cannot believe it’s 2019! Though I’m extremely excited for 2019, looking back at 2018, it was the greatest year I’ve ever had.  Some of my 2018 highlights were:

  1. Taking my first 2-week vacation to since starting our business
  2. Vacationed out of the country to Lebanon, Greece, and Japan
  3. Kell and I moved into our first home
  4. We found out that we were pregnant with a baby girl
  5. We got engaged
  6. Grew closer to the people that mean the most
  7. Restructured my business (Bloguettes, Wela Creative Studio, and Stock that Rocks) and found my purpose again
  8. in my business
  9. Worked hard and made my blog a priority, which resulted in my biggest year in profit and landed amazing big partnerships
  10. Brought on my first paid employee (Jenny!) to help with my blog

I told you, it was quite the year, but I couldn’t be more excited for what 2019 has in store for me!  2019 will be the year that I waited and wanted all of my life.  It’s the year that I become a mom.  I’m sure it will be the most difficult thing I’ll ever do, but the also the most rewarding thing.  With such a big year ahead, I wanted to have some meaningful resolutions for 2019.  I wanted to have just a few resolutions that are realistic, practical, and meaningful for my new life as a new mom.  So, here we go!

1. To learn how to cook by cooking every recipe in a cookbook

As many of you guys know already, I don’t really cook.  I’ve always wanted to be a good cook and cook more, but it all just seems like such a big task for me!  Everything from picking out a recipe, going grocery shopping, making a mess in the kitchen, then cleaning it! hah. But it’s something I want to learn and do more often, so I bought myself my very first cookbook and I’m going to cook every recipe that’s in the cookbook!  The cookbook I decided to go with is Joanna Gaine’s “Magnolia Table”.  I chatted with a few of my friends and they all recommended this book because the recipes are pretty easy and it has healthy, but also hearty options!  This is the resolution I’m excited for most because I feel like I’m accomplishing two goals! One, to learn how to cook and two, to complete the entire cookbook!  For those of you that aren’t good at cooking or don’t do it often, you should do it with me!

2. Making our house a home

We moved into our new house at the beginning of August and a few weeks later, we found out that we were pregnant.  We had great plans for our house, but I was extremely sick for the first 4-5 months of my pregnancy (read more about the first half of my pregnancy here!) and I just didn’t have the energy to do anything!  With the surprise news of us expecting a baby, not only did our lives change, but our priorities changed too and that includes our plan for the house!  I haven’t made any efforts into organizing our house or decorating our house and making it a home, so that is my goal for 2019!

3. To not be such a perfectionist and post more things IRL (in real life)

As I become a mom this year, I need to learn how to let go of things and not be such a perfectionist, especially when it comes to my work + content.  I don’t know what it is with my content on my blog or social media, but I just need everything to be picture perfect and there have been so many times where I didn’t end up posting something because it wasn’t up to my expectation.  I also hardly ever post iPhone photos, because I just feel like my photos need to be DSLR photos, but as I become a mom and not have the time that I had before, I need to learn to not be such a perfectionist and just post more iPhone photos and just more IRL in general!

4. Take care of myself

I have a tendency of not knowing when I’m stressed out.  I just go go go go go until I burn out and have a breakdown.  I don’t make time for the things I should, because I put too much on my plate and I don’t know how to say no.  With the baby coming, I need to prioritize myself more.  By freeing up my schedule, learning to say “no” to things, working out more, and ask for help when I need it to ultimately be the best version of myself, so I can be the mama to this baby girl.  This resolution will be the most important one and one that I will have to constantly remind myself.  I have been listening to the audiobook of “Strong as a Mother” by Katie Rope and it’s all about taking care of yourself as a mother and it has been so helpful!  I highly suggest for everyone to read it!

I wish you all nothing but the best, happiest, healthiest year and remember that it’s up to you to make this year great!  Thank you for always following along.  I love you guys xx
