Something a lot of people don’t know about me is that I was a psych major the first two years of school because I’ve always wanted to be a couples therapist. I really wanted to help people and their relationships, so when I try to write a personal post, the first thing I gravitate towards writing is about romantic relationships.
I have been really wanting to write a post on how important it is to trust your gut + listen to your feelings. I turned 27 this year and I ended a four year relationship in January with someone I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with. It was a tough beginning of the year, but I couldn’t be more happy right now in my life. It’s all because through all the confusion, tears, and pain, I listened to my thoughts and took a risk. We (especially us,women) have a tendency of stressing so much on our age or our investment in our time/money that we end up sticking to it. This isn’t just about relationships, but about wants + needs in life, careers, everything.
It’s easier said than done, but I’ve been there + done it. Yes, it hurts and it’s so extremely hard, but that doesn’t mean you should live incomplete for the rest of your life. I have talked to a good handle of people that have gone through hard times and said “I knew it from the beginning this would happen. I was just too scared to let go or deal with the outcome.”. I also understand that everything has ups + downs and you also have to work through things, but it’s also important to be self aware and know your wants + needs.
I may be rambling now, but we all live one life and it’s just something I really wanted to share. 🙂 I hope you all love my personal posts and if you have any comments or questions, I would love it if you commented below!
I’m currently in LA for a wedding and be sure to look out for more posts next week. Don’t forget to read about my NEW posting schedule and what to expect from my blog every week!
