I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a bit of a control freak when it comes to my life and career- I don’t want anything (or anyone, in this case) to get in the way of achieving my dreams. After I experienced my first relationship in high school, I told myself not to get into another relationship until after I am exactly where I want to be in my life and career. I would say to myself, “If I’m 30 and still am not happy with where I’m at, so be it” (HA!). Well, I went all throughout college without getting into any serious relationships and I was on the right path …or so I thought.
As you can tell through my Instagram and previous blog posts (for those that don’t know me personally), I have a pretty great guy. I don’t want to get into all the mushy gushy stuff (I’ll save that for another time), but what I’m getting to is that love comes unexpectedly and you can’t control when or who you fall in love with. Sometimes the timing works and sometimes it doesn’t, but what’s important is finding the perfect partner that supports and believes in whatever you do. I’m twenty-four with a blog, 3 different start-ups, and in a relationship- although that wasn’t my “plan”, my life is pretty balanced for having a lot on my plate… thanks to him. I can’t predict the future and where our relationship will lead to, but I’ve learned a lot about just letting go and letting life guide me.
My biggest piece of advice to everyone is to do just the same. Rather than looking for a partner, focus on yourself until someone great comes along.
