So I skipped a little over a week of blogging and have totally been off of my editorial calendar, but hey, that’s life! Work has been crazy, life has been crazy, and I’m trying to juggle a million things on my plate right now- all I can do is do my best at everything with the time that I have. As most of you guys know, we went to New Mexico last weekend to stay at Inn of The Mountain Gods. There were so many good pictures from the trip that I figured I’d split them into two posts!
To get to Inn of the Mountain Gods, we flew into El Paso, TX and drove through White Sands to get to Ruidoso, NM. It was only a 2-hour drive and I’m a big fan of road trips, so I loved every second of it. I had been to White Sands before, but for those that I have never experienced it, it’s truly one of the most amazing things you’ll ever experience. You will be driving in the desert one second then all of a sudden you just see big sand dunes. The texture of the sand is unlike you’ve ever felt before, it’s really soft and extremely fine, so you can easily just wipe off the sand off of you and it’ll come right off!
We lucked out and the weather was a little cloudy, so we were able to get incredible pictures in the middle of the day. If you want to visit and take photos, I’d recommend definitely going at sunset to get the best photos there when the sun isn’t blasting. As you can imagine, there aren’t a whole lot of shaded areas at White Sands, so it would usually be pretty difficult to take photos in the middle of the day! At the visitor center, before you enter the park, you can rent sleds to go down the dunes. Though we didn’t, I highly recommend doing that because it looked like a lot of fun!
